Ken Sutak

E-mail: ksutak@franklingringer.com

Ken Sutak, formerly of Schlesinger & Sussman in New York City, has joined our firm as counsel in the New York City office, where he will continue his general litigation practice and his representation of clients in the fields of magazine and book publishing, art law and entertainment media.

His most noteworthy cases have addressed such cutting-edge legal issues as forfeiture of attorneys' fees for violation of the disciplinary rules and the constitutional limits of defamation lawsuits.

At the trial court level, Ken has won a string of out-of-state courtroom victories in several obscenity prosecutions against various men's magazines; obtained many dismissals or voluntary discontinuances of libel lawsuits asserted against magazine publishers; and, has often appeared on behalf of either side in private shareholder actions for corporate dissolution buy-outs under the Business Corporation Law, as well as regularly representing litigants in the Surrogate's courts.

In his role as a transactional attorney in the arts and entertainment field, Ken has represented the literary and theatrical properties of Bella and Samuel Spewack (Kiss Me, Kate), Davis Grubb (The Night of the Hunter), and Sharon Green (Terrilian), among other authors.

A graduate of both the New York University School of Law and the New York University School of Business Administration in 1974, Ken has been admitted to practice in the State of New York since 1975 and is a member of the Brooklyn Bar Association and the Committee on Theater and the Performing Arts of the Entertainment Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
